Introduction to a note published by the section of the CCRI of Occupied Palestine
Thousands mobilized in Israel against the policies of the far-right government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, who intends to reform certain aspects of the -Zionist- regime that was imposed years ago, after persecuting, torturing, massacring and expelling the Palestinian people. Among the demonstrators there were militants from the Israeli section of the ISA -Socialist Struggle, a Trotskyist organization- who, in fact, marched in defense of a regime that should not be reformed but destroyed, to give rise to a Palestinian State, of character secular and not racist.
More than 80,000 people participated this Saturday in a protest in Tel Aviv against the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and in particular against the judicial reform promoted by the ruling coalition, made up of right-wing, far-right and ultra-Orthodox parties. The protests were replicated in other cities of the country. In Jerusalem, police arrested protesters carrying a Palestinian flag, according to The Jerusalem Post. The demonstrators called for "saving democracy" and preventing the political "overthrow of the regime" in force in Israel since the country's creation in 1948, the AFP news agency reported. "Elections do not give anyone the power to destroy democracy," former Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, who has strongly questioned the far-right government, said in Tel Aviv. (Telam, January 14, 2023)
