Erdogan genocide... It wasn't the earthquake, it was the government and construction companies

The owners of the Rönesans company, the brothers Mehmet Yaşar Coşkun and Hüseyin Yalçın Coşkun, disappeared, but not under the rubble, like tens of thousands in Turkey and Syria. They escaped, because they appear on the list of those who, during the real estate "boom" promoted by President Erdogan, put up hundreds of the buildings that have just collapsed for lack of anti-seismic systems!

There are more examples of buildings built in recent years, as close as 2018 and 2019, which have also collapsed in Hatay province, and also in other regions of the Eurasian country. In an interview with the British BBC, the Istanbul president of the Union of Chambers of Engineers and Urban Planners, Pelin Pinar Giritlioglu, estimated that up to 75,000 buildings in the quake-affected area had received "amnesties." The semi-fascist government of Recept Tayyip Erdogan not only boosted the growth of the real estate bubble, but also repeatedly pardoned businessmen who, in order to earn fortunes quickly, did not meet many of the necessary requirements to build walls in an area characterized by earthquakes. The Turkish President is a murderer who must be prosecuted and sentenced for genocide!

In exchange for a fine, they were allowed to continue standing despite the fact that the inspections had decreed that they did not meet the construction or anti-seismic protection standards provided by law. Even the Ministry of Urbanism itself recognized in 2018 that half of the buildings in all of Turkey were not complying with the regulations. But these amnesties continue to be granted, especially in the pre-election period. In fact, the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced one ahead of the elections next May. Where it has been built with the corresponding devices, there were no collapses, as expressed in a note from the official Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, on February 13, which explains the situation of two hospitals, which remained standing despite the power of the earthquake. . https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/seismic-isolation-devices-prevent-damage-in-four-hospitals-180830

Four hospitals, in which seismic isolation devices were used during construction, did not suffer any damage during the devastating earthquakes in southern Turkey. In both deadly earthquakes, Elbistan State Hospital in the epicenter district of the second major earthquake, Hatay Dörtyol State Hospital, Malatya Battalgazi State Hospital and Malatya Maternity and Children's Hospital did not suffer even the slightest damage thanks to the devices. seismic isolation placed on its columns and became a shelter for earthquake victims.

Seismic isolation devices placed on the column or base of buildings absorb the shock power of earthquakes of magnitude 5 and above while providing the ability to break contact between the earthquake and the structure. Some state hospitals in Osmaniye, Adıyaman and Kahramanmaraş, whose construction is nearing completion, were not damaged thanks to the system that protects the buildings by reducing the severity of the quake by five times.

“After 2013, seismic devices, which are mandatory for hospitals in first- and second-degree earthquake zones, serve almost as insurance,” civil engineer Ümit Kaçmaz said. “Seismic isolation devices are placed between the columns between the basement and the ground floor. Thus, by separating the superstructure from the ground during earthquakes, the device protects the building from the severity of the tremor,” explained Kaçmaz.

“The cost of the insulating device to be placed in a column is around 4,000 euros on average. For example, for a house with 20 columns, there may be an additional cost of 80,000 euros,” Kaçmaz pointed out. It was learned that 580 seismic isolation devices were used in the construction of the Elbistan State Hospital, 340 at the Dörtyol State Hospital, 222 at the Battalgazi State Hospital and 254 at the Malatya Maternity and Children's Hospital.

It is clear that to save a few thousand euros, businessmen are capable of putting the lives of millions at risk and that capitalist governments defend their profits with policies that threaten the entire population. For this reason, today more than ever, the mass movement of Turkey must organize a great national struggle to oust Erdogan and his gang and impose a fundamental exit, a government of the working class and the people that begins the path towards Socialism. Capitalism kills, to live you have to put an end to Capitalism!
